How do you hope to empower people through your photography?

When I create work I like to take photographs of real women who I am lucky enough to meet in my day to day life who inspire me in some way and who wish to create something special. I appreciate things being raw and natural set against a magnificent backdrop. I like to spend a bit of time to get to know my subject so that they feel comfortable with me and therefore it creates a natural environment where they feel at ease. I hope to capture the beauty within the subject their'essence'which to me is the most empowering thing of all.

What is some of the inspiration behind your photographs and art?
I am someone who draws inspiration from many places depending on my mood. From a young age I always loved nature and spent many hours running wild, climbing trees or swimming in the sea. When I would do these things I would imagine mythical characters and created a dream world. I was encouraged by my mother to develop my creativity and never had to harness it which I am eternally grateful for.

As I grew older I fell in love with history and folklore; anything mythical or magical has always fascinated me. Some of my references I often am inspired by are the romantics, the pre-raphaelites and the surrealists and due to my spiritual practice I also am interested by shamanic and Native American culture which is rich in symbolism, storytelling and respect for the natural world.

What is special to you about Sana Jardin?
To me Sana Jardin represents the modern spirit of women today! It is individual, feminine yet strong and ethically made; they make you feel empowered by wearing them.
